Liverpool have told James Milner to accept a wage cut, if he wants to join the Reds from Manchester City in the summer.
The Daily Express report that the England midfielder wants Liverpool to match his current £120,000 wage at Anfield.
However Liverpool are not set to offer him that money, which could see the deal break down.
Milner’s current contract at the Etihad runs out at the end of the season, and Liverpool are looking to snap the 29 year old up on a free.
City have offered Milner a new contract, but the player is looking for consistent playing time.
