Liverpool and Arsenal told about midfielder’s demands

Arsenal and Liverpool will have to offer Manchester City midfielder James Milner a four-year deal if they want to secure his services this Summer

The England international is set to leave the Etihad Stadium after his contract expires in June, and with no contract talks in the pipeline with the champions, Milner is ready to quit the club.

The 29-year-old has been at the Etihad since 2010, when he completed his ÂŁ6million move from Aston Villa, but due to a lack of regular first-team football, the versatile midfielder is now ready to quit the club and move on.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been monitoring the Englishman’s situation and are both considering making a move for him at the end of the season.

Milner wants Arsenal

According to reports, Milner favours a move to Arsenal over Liverpool, but it’s believed he wants a four-year deal and won’t accept any offer less than that.

Due to being 29, the two Premier League clubs may not be prepared to offer him a four-year deal, which would take him to 33-years-old.

Milner has already snubbed a contract extension from City officials after they put a three-year deal on the table worth ÂŁ80k-a-week, but due to the duration and also the lack of first-team football, he decided to reject the offer.

The prospect of signing Milner on a free transfer is one Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers both want to seize due to the player’s versatility, but a four-year deal is something they may not be prepared to offer.
