Suarez completed his much expected transfer to the Catalan giants on Friday for a fee in the region of £75 million, meaning the number 7 shirt is now vacant at Anfield.
With such a proud heritage surrounding the number at the club, after the likes of Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez wore it, Jamie Carragher believes it should not be awarded to a player who does not deserve it.
Carragher retired from football at the end of the 2012/13 season, but he is still closely affiliated with the club. He was taking part in a Q & A on his official Twitter page, when he answered a question from a fellow user asking who should take the famous shirt number.
Carragher insists that it should only be awarded to the right player.
