Arsenal starlet could have moved to Stamford Bridge this summer
Arsenal beat London rivals Chelsea to the signing of Jeff Reine-Adelaide this summer, according to reports in France.
The 17-year-old has been hotly tipped for a bright future after his stand-out performances during Arsenal‘s pre-season competition, the Emirates Cup, but it’s been revealed that the Gunners weren’t the only team interested.
According to France Football, both Chelsea and Newcastle United made formal moves for Reine-Adelaide throughout the summer window, only to be turned down.
Arsenal Move
Instead of joining the Blues or the Magpies, Adelaide completed a move to Arsenal after they agreed to pay £3million to Ligue 2 side Lens.
The powerhouse winger made his Arsenal debut in the pre-season competition, when he impressed against the likes of Lyon and Wolfsburg.
His performances persuaded Arsene Wenger to not send him out on loan, and instead, he included him in Arsenal’s Champions League squad for the 2015/2016 campaign.
