John Terry drops retirement hint

Chelsea defender John Terry has confirmed that he will retire from football if the club don’t offer him a new deal.

Due to the club’s policy, Terry can only be offered 12-month extensions at a time, and with his current deal set to expire in the Summer, the skipper could become a free agent if the club choose against offering him a new deal.

It’s widely reported that the long-term servant will be offered a new deal by the club, but if they don’t, Terry has confirmed that he won’t move elsewhere and he will retire instead.

Both Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard chose to move away after they were refused a new deal, but Terry has stated he couldn’t play for a different club.

‘No, I wouldn’t play for another club and I also think there’s a right time to go as well,’ he said.

‘Certainly I am feeling great at the minute and it would be the wrong time to go – but there does come a point where it would be the right time to say ‘it’s time to move on’ and then people will remember you that way.

‘I don’t know how long I have left. Hopefully I have a few years let but if this is my last year then I hope it will go out on a bang.’
