Jones: Fans have had a difficult season

Manchester United defender, Phil Jones, has admitted that the Old Trafford crowd have every right to make their feelings known, after United’s 12th league defeat this season.

After the defeat to Sunderland on Saturday, it looks certain that there will be no European football for Manchester United next season. Jones conceded the fans deserved to put across their opinions on what has been a disappointing season for the Red Devils, with fans walking out before the final whistle and others booing the team as they walked off the pitch.

“They’ve had a difficult season,” said Jones. “It’s not been easy for them, especially at Old Trafford. You can understand that totally.

“We’re now looking forward to Hull on Tuesday night. The only way to bounce back is to win a match and at least it’s coming around quick.”

United have now suffered seven Premier League defeats at home this season, but Jones claimed the players did not feel under extra pressure playing in front of their own fans.

“There’s pressure in every game, but we go out to win every game,” he said. “You look at the away games we’ve played, we’re up there on form. But the home form, for whatever reason, has not been as good.”
