Chelsea put on red-alert as manager confirms he’s likely to leave
Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed that he’s likely to leave his post as national boss in the next few months, putting Premier League side Chelsea on red-alert as they continue their quest for a Jose Mourinho replacement.
Sampaoli is one of several names on a Roman Abramovich shortlist, but when asked about his future and whether he’s remaining with Chile, he admitted that it’s looking unlikely.
The manager has had great success with the South American nation, guiding them to the Copa America earlier this year and also coming third in the UEFA Coach of the Year.
However, when he was asked about his future, Sampaoli admitted that as it stands, it’s looking likely that he will be leaving the post.
Sampaoli to leave Chile
When asked if he was staying on, Sampaoli told Fox Sports: “The truth is that today everything is pointing towards a no.
“I’m not in a position now to stay in place where I don’t feel as respected as I was before.
“I could quit now but I don’t want to sneak out the back door… I hope this gets resolved in the coming hours.”
