Chelsea boss takes aim at six first-team players for under-performing

Jose Mourinho has blasted six of his first-team players for under-performing in their first two matches, which has seen them pick up just one point.

The Blues drew the season opener to Swansea City at Stamford Bridge before losing 3-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

With questions asked about his squad going into their title defence, Mourinho has acted quickly by landing Pedro from FC Barcelona, and he’s now revealed the six players that he’s felt let down by.

In his press conference ahead of Sunday’s game with West Bromwich Albion, Mourinho blamed himself for the start of the season, but also named six players who have been below expectations.

Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic were all mentioned by Mourinho in his rant about poor performances.

Mourinho Unhappy

“I’m not happy with my form, because I used to get better results than I’m getting now,” he said. “I’m not happy with Branislav Ivanovic’s form, Gary Cahill’s, John Terry’s, Cesar Azpilicueta’s, Cesc Fabregas’s, Nemanja Matic’s. But the first thing is I’m not happy with my form.

“So what we have been doing this week is being more active in training, watching more videos, working harder.

“I go to the gym every day now to get fitter. Maybe I need more action on the touchline, so I need to be fitter.

“I’m not happy with anyone, not one person. We have one point from two matches. I’m not happy at all. That’s me. I’m either happy with everybody or not happy with anyone.

“Yes, I was the Happy One at one time. But I don’t like to lose or for the players to have a better mentality than I have.”
