Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made a shocking statement by revealing that he feels the club are on a downward spiral at the moment and shouldn’t be considered one of the favourites to win the Premier League this season.

The Blues boss, who made is dramatic return to Stamford Bridge in the Summer, was speaking after he watched his side lose 3-2 away to Stoke City, and he admitted that he needs to turn things around at The Bridge as they are currently on their way down, whereas other teams are on the up.

In a earlier report it was revealed that Mourinho has no plans in signing new players in January, despite his lack of striking power up front and he has now insisted that his team are just one out of six who could win the title, but he doesn’t believe his side are the ones to beat.

“Who told you we are the first contender to win the league?. “I don’t think we are. I think we are one of the six teams that are potential contenders.

“While other teams are on top of their game and have conditions to say, ‘We are on top of our game in terms of maturity, squad, balance in positions’, I think we are a team playing different than we did in the past.

“Remember, that in the past two years, this team finished 25 points behind the winners and finished 14 points behind the winners.

“We are not speaking with me about my team being champions last year or finishing one or two points behind.

“My team in the last two or three years in December was 15 to 20 points behind the leaders and I’m saying we are building a team, a style of play with the players we have, and of course we want the best results.”
