Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Petr Cech will be staying at the club this season, despite the chances that Thibaut Courtois could become the new number-one.

The race to be Mourinho’s number-one is hotting up with the new Premier League season getting underway this weekend, and despite reports suggesting one ‘keeper is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this Summer if they aren’t given the first-team role, Mourinho has confirmed that there is no chance in Cech or Courtois leaving.

The Blues get their season underway on Monday evening away at newly-promoted Burnley, and the Portuguese man has revealed that his number-one will be identified on Sunday.

However, he has insisted that Cech is not leaving the club this Summer, no matter what role he plays this season.

‘There is no offer, there is no possibility,’ he said. ‘We have two of the three best goalkeepers in the world with Cech and Courtois.

‘For me it is a great problem to have [deciding on who is number one]. Every manager in the world would like to have Courtois, Cech and [Mark] Schwarzer.

‘I am very happy with what I have in the squad in terms of experience and the number of players under the age of 21.’

Cech has been linked with several European clubs, including; Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco.
