Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has confirmed that Andre Schurrle will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

The German international has fallen down the pecking order at the club since the arrival of Cesc Fabregas, and has spent most of the season on the bench as a back-up to the first-team, however, after scoring last night, Mourinho insists that he is still in his plans.

Schurrle scored during Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League last night, and after the game, the midfielder confirmed his intentions were to stay in West London, and Mourinho has backed his player by saying he still wants him at the club.

“He is in my plans,” Mourinho said amid the speculation.

“We had a problem when he went to the national team the last time and he came back very, very ill and was in trouble for quite a long time.

“Today he had 75 minutes to improve his form, he is a player who needs to adapt better to the Premier League but is also a player that in three shots usually scores a goal. That’s an important quality.”

Schurrle has been previously linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
