The Special One could be set to axe Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw

Man United could soon be facing a future without Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling, according to reports today.

Both of the defenders missed the club’s game at the weekend against Swansea and although the Red Devils managed to see off the Welsh side, they were forced to throw together a defence without them and it left the Special One unhappy that his hand was forced.

Mourinho has reportedly slammed both defenders for being unable to play through pain and after some harsh words to the public about the issue, he then is believed to hare re-iterated the problem in the dressing room afterwards.

He was believed to be so unhappy about the fact that they weren’t tough enough to play through it, that it has left many wondering if they will play for the club again. if this is the case, they could very well be sold off in January or next summer.

Shaw still nursing leg injury

Shaw has been nursing a leg injury over the past few months and it is still on the mend. He injured the same leg extremely badly last season and it was so bad that he missed out on England’s Euro campaign.

Chris Smalling has also been on the sidelines in recent weeks and told Jose Mourinho that he would be unable to play through the pain at the weekend – something which appears to have angered the United boss.

Smalling and Shaw have been two of United’s main defenders at Old Trafford over the last few seasons but it appears that they may be facing a long run without gametime after infuriating Mourinho. They’ve clearly angered him so much that their future now looks set to be an uncertain one.
