Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has hit out at his fringe players for their below-par performance against League Two side, Shrewsbury, in last nights Capital One Cup game.

The Blues needed a late own-goal to see off the team that are three leagues below them, and after the game, Mourinho admitted that none of the players shined for him and they haven’t given him a selection headache for the weekend.

The likes of Andre Schurrle, Mohamed Salah and John Obi Mikel all got a start in the cup tie, but none of them put in the level Mourinho wanted.

After the game, the Portuguese man had this to say: “I expect players to give me problems. I love problems.

“But a lot of them didn’t and they’ve made it easy to choose my team for Saturday.

“If players who played 90 minutes two days ago were fantastic I expect people who are not playing a lot to raise the level to create me problems. They didn’t create me big problems.”

A Didier Drogba goal and an own-goal were enough to send the Premier League side through to the Quarter Finals of the Capital One Cup.
