Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United can no longer win the Premier League title this season after they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
A hat-trick from striker Samuel Eto’o gave The Blues a much-needed win after they saw both Manchester City and Arsenal pick up wins on Saturday, but the defeat for United now leaves them 14-points behind The Gunners.
Not only are they 14 points off Arsene Wenger’s men, they are now 12 points behind Chelsea who are sitting in third, and after the game, Mourinho admitted that the gap is too much now even for Manchester United.
“Man United is Man United, mathematically it is possible, but it is hard,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“It is 14 for Arsenal, but also 13 for City and 12 to us, so maybe one team might collapse, but for all three teams to collapse to do that and lose so many points, I think is difficult.
“So for them I think it is the fight to finish top four which I think they can do. It is difficult, but with that pride and tradition they will fight and hopefully they win against the other contenders as we don’t play against them in the league.”
