Manager admits he feels embarrassed about the situation
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he’s embarrassed by the season so far and has praised the fans for supporting the team throughout the tough period.
The Premier League champions are currently 14th in the league following just four wins from their first 15-games, already leaving them 14-points off fourth-placed Manchester United.
Despite the woeful start, Mourinho has managed to keep his job and a lot of that is down to the fans.
Every game, home and away, the Chelsea fans are chanting Mourinho’s name and getting behind the players despite their woeful run of form, and the manager admitted today that he’s felt embarrassed about it at times.
Embarrassed
“Sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed to be fair, their support is more than I could expect after such a bad season,” Mourinho said. “I know that last season we were champions but this season has been really bad.
“But we like to play at Stamford Bridge – the fans are being unbelievable. I even feel a little bit unsure how to react when they sing my name and I feel a bit embarrassed because I do not know how to react.
“When you are the champion you wave and share the emotion. I know for sure the Chelsea fans don’t need to be reminded of the memories, that is for sure.
“They don’t need that special vitamin to improve memories, because if not they would not sing the Special One to me, or to treat the players the way they do. For sure we want to play at Stamford Bridge and that is not a problem for us.”
