Jose Mourinho given green-light to sign striker in January

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been given the backing of club-owner Roman Abramovich to spend big in the Winter in order to sign a top-class striker.

The Blues signed Samuel Eto’o in the Summer from Russian side Anzhi, but the Cameroon international has failed to set Stamford Bridge alight since the transfer and it is thought that Mourinho is also losing patience in ÂŁ50million-man Fernando Torres.

Not only do Chelsea have Torres and Eto’o, they also have Demba Ba, but he hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since March and Mourinho is now putting together a list of striker’s he wants to sign in January.

Unfortunately for the former-Real Madrid manager, he cannot recall Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton because there was no return clause in the deal.
