Chelsea boss unimpressed after latest injury setback

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he is not happy about the latest injury suffered to Diego Costa.

The Spaniard has a long-running issue with his hamstring and he picked up a knock during the club’s pre-season game in America against FC Barcelona.

The knock meant he missed out on the Community Shield game against Arsenal on Sunday and could also see him miss the Premier League opener this Saturday against Swansea City.

The 26-year-old has long-term injury issues with his hamstrings, which kept him out of the last few weeks last season, and Mourinho has admitted that his fitness woes is a strain on the squad.

Mourinho Not Happy

He said: “I don’t like to cry or moan about players that don’t play.

“But obviously in such a short squad like we have, then when somebody is missing I am not happy. But it won’t be an excuse for me.

“Last week he couldn’t play in the Community Shield game. He was not ready to be involved.

“I cannot reassure fans he will always be fit but I can assure them he is working well and hard and everybody around him is helping him.”
