Portuguese would earn less than what he did at Chelsea should he take the job
Jose Mourinho would have to take a pay-cut if he wants the Manchester United job, according to reports.
The Portuguese is unemployed as it stands after losing his job on Thursday following Chelsea‘s woeful start to the new season.
Mourinho has already been approached by Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco and Serie A side AS Roma, but it’s a job in the Premier League he’s eyeing up, and it’s the Manchester United role.
Pressure is mounting on Louis van Gaal following the club’s latest run of form, which has seen them drawn three and lose three, and it’s reported that Mourinho is waiting in the wings.
Pay Cut
However, should Mourinho take the job at Old Trafford, he would be getting paid less than what he was on at Stamford Bridge.
It’s yet not clear how much United would pay him, but they wouldn’t be matching his £10m-a-year contract that Chelsea were paying.
Van Gaal has been told that if he loses to Stoke City, he will be sacked, meaning Mourinho could be in place to take over as the new boss ahead of Monday’s game….against Chelsea!
