Jose Mourinho wants James Rodriguez

Portuguese wants to sign midfielder for Manchester United

Jose Mourinho would like to sign James Rodriguez for Manchester United should he get appointed this summer.

It’s heavily expected that Mourinho will be replacing Louis van Gaal at the end of the season, and the Portuguese wants to lure Rodriguez to Old Trafford as one of his first marquee signings.

Rodriguez has struggled to play regular first-team football at the Bernabeu and could be tempted by a transfer away from the club in order to develop his career further.

His impressive World Cup showing with Colombia earned him a move from AS Monaco to Madrid in the first place, but after two years, his time in Spain could be coming to an end.

English Interest

Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with Rodriguez in recent months, but Mourinho is desperate to beat his former-club and sign him for his potential new-club.

In a potential boost for United and Mourinho, Rodriguez is also represented by Jorge Mendes, who is the manager’s agent as well.
