Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata is keen to force through a move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium in order to join Arsenal this summer, according to reports.

Despite being Chelsea’s best player last season, Mata has been used as a substitute mainly this season so far and has been told by new manager Jose Mourinho that he isn’t a guaranteed starter, a comment that has annoyed the Spaniard.

On Tuesday evening, his father, who is also his agent, was seen in the director’s box at the Emirates watching Arsenal play Fenerbache in their Champions League qualifier, and after seeing The Gunners progress to the Champions League group stages, it is now thought that Mata is keen on making the switch across London.

Chelsea have strengthened their midfield a considerable amount this summer and it has left Mata fighting hard for a first-team place, something that hasn’t gone down well with the 25-year-old and it is thought that Arsene Wenger is keen to offer him a guaranteed first-team spot if he does make the move.

The ex-Valencia star, who chose Chelsea over Arsenal two years ago, has been told that he will have to force through a move himself by handing in a transfer request if he does want to leave the club this summer.
