Real Madrid Julen Lopetegui spoke about the absence of Thibaut Courtois. Courtois joined Real Madrid a few weeks back. However, the Belgian shot-stopper hasn’t made a single appearance for them so far with Lopetegui still preferring Keylor Navas. In the match against Girona yesterday, Navas started and Real Madrid won 4-1. Girona opened the scoring thanks to Borja Garcia before Sergio Ramos equalized through a 39th minute penalty. Los Blancos were awarded another penalty seven minutes into the second half. This time, Karim Benzema scored to give Real the lead. Gareth Bale made it 3-1 in the 59th minute before Benzema added his second to make it 4-1.

And the Real Madrid manager has said the reason behind the absence of Thibaut Courtois. He said, “It’s not a situation that’s easy to understand but it’s simple enough to explain. I’ve got some really good options in goal and there are no problems in that area. We’ll decide what’s best for each game.

Keylor got the nod today and did very well. There’s great competition and that makes us stronger in the goalkeeping department. I’ve got some thoughts in my mind, but I’m not going to share them. Over the course of the season, I’ll look for solutions to solve the next immediate challenge.”

Real Madrid are currently at the top of the table over Barcelona on goal difference. They next take on Leganes on Saturday.
