Liverpool boss piles on misery for United fans

Jurgen Klopp has taken an opportunity in front of the press to take a swipe of Manchester United’s current problems in the Europa League.

In his press conference ahead of his side’s hosting of Watford on Sunday in the Premier League, the Liverpool boss was asked about the advantages of having no European football this season.

United have had a rough start to life in the competiton, and the misery was made worse last night after they lost 2-1 away to Fenerbache.

Klopp was asked if a lack of European competition was a factor for his side’s impressive form this season.

“I cannot compare. For the last six, seven years I was always travelling through Europe,” he said.

“I never thought ‘this is too much’. If you want to be successful, you need European football. Watford didn’t travel last week. They have the same situation.

“We have to show we use the time for training over the whole season, not the first 10 games.

“Did you ask the same of Antonio Conte? They have the same situation.

“Maybe Manchester United have the same from January onwards?”
