Defender would cost €65m
Manchester United are interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Jose Giminez, according to Sky Sports.
Jose Mourinho is thought to be concerned with the injury centre-back Eric Bailly has picked up, and the defensive issues his team is having on the whole.
The 21-year-old Uruguayan has not been finding life at the Calderón plain sailing, failing to get back into Diego Simeone’s team after an injury in September.
Sky Sports La Liga expert Guillem Balague gave his thoughts on the matter, claiming United are definitely interesting in signing the player,
He said, “United are interested (in Gimenez), no doubt. Atletico want his €65m buy-out clause paid though. Atletico are aware that clubs are interested in him as Diego Simeone prefers Stefan Savic and Diego Godin, but they are calm because they have received no offers whatsoever for him since he renewed his contract in January of this year.”
