According to recent reports, Juventus are keen on offloading German midfielder Emre Can before the transfer window slams shut. The Italian giants are reportedly interested in a swap deal with Barcelona involving Ivan Rakitic.
The Croatian midfielder’s future has been precarious at the Nou Camp, albeit he has reinstated his desire to remain at the Nou Camp. However, with Valverde preferring young blood over experience in recent games, the 31-year-old seems to have changed his mind.
Emre Can, on the other hand, has fallen down the pecking order since Maurizio Sarri’s arrival. The German, who joined from Liverpool on a free transfer, has seen a rise in competition with the arrivals of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey.
Neither Can nor Rakitic were in the starting lineup as Juventus and Barcelona registered wins on the weekend. It remains to be seen if the duo are willing to swap clubs in search of more first-team opportunities, before the window slams shut on 2 September.
Barcelona are set to face Osasuna while Juventus will take on Napoli in an exciting fixture this week.
