The Serie A champions are looking to loan Manchester City youngster Matija Nastasic to provide defensive cover for the injured Andrea Barzagli who has just had surgery on his Achilles tendon. Juventus want the Serbian on an initial loan spell with the option of a permanent move if the defender impresses at the Juventus Stadium.

Nastasic has struggled for game time during the last campaign as injuries have hampered the defender and his first team oportunities. Therefore this loan deal might be good for the player as the slower pace of the Italian game will benefit the defender in gaining his fitness back at a lesser pace then he would have to in the Premier League.

The Serbian defender impressed during his first season at the Etihad Stadium after moving from Fiorentina in 2012. But due to injuries only managed to make 11 Premier League starts for the eventual Premier League champions.

It remains to be seen whether City will agree to the deal, although specualtion insists that City want to use the young defender as an incentive in their pursuit of Roma’s Medhi Benatia. Whether this would be a permanent move or a loan spell remains to be seen.
