Young Arsenal and England full-back Kieran Gibbs has said that the record signing of German international Mesut Ozil has proved that Arsenal will once again compete with the top teams around the world.
Arsenal splashed out 42.5million to secure arguably the best attacking midfielder in world football, the signing of Ozil brought huge shock to world football with Arsenal being a reluctant club to spend big on players, with the preferable option of bringing talent up through the youth system.
Mesut Ozils former team-mates were stunned with his departure, Real Madrid stars such as Christiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos have expressed their sadness with his move.
In an interview with Arsenal.com Gibbs said, ‘It is a statement to what the club want to do and what the club want to achieve.”
”It is something that everyone has been waiting for so now we have a big signing to help push us to the next level.”
Gibbs carries on to say, ”He has got a clinical side to him and technically he is world class. He is going to create a lot of problems for oppisition we come up against and hopefully he can continue the form that he had with Real Madrid.”
