The German boss has opened up the opportunity for the Reds legend to return to Anfield following his spell with LA Galaxy

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up the opportunity for Steven Gerrard to return to Anfield, when his contract with LA Galaxy expires next month.

The MLS season ends in November, and the former Liverpool midfielder has hinted that his time in the States is about to come to an end.

Gerrard joined LA Galaxy last year, after being told he was free to leave Liverpool, but a sensational return could be on the cards, after he had hinted Klopp had not offered him a coaching role at the club.

The 36-year-old admits he “got on very well” with Klopp, when he returned to Melwood during the off-season to train, and it now seems the former Liverpool and England star could make a permanent return, which was not anticipated when he left in 2015.

“Steven Gerrard is always so welcome at Liverpool FC,” said Klopp.

“You cannot imagine how welcome. So, absolutely no problem. But everything that we have already or will speak to each other stays in this talk.

“That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. But nobody should worry that we have no space for Steven Gerrard.

“No – everything will be fine, 100 per cent.”

Meanwhile, Gerrard recently said, via Instagram: “Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege.

“You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.”
