Kolo Toure deal falls through

Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure could not agree terms with Qatar club Al Gharafa for a move this summer.

Toure had an agreement with Liverpool that he could leave on a free transfer if he finds a club that suits him, despite still having one year left on his contract.

Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers’ strong relationship with West Brom manager Alan Irvine was key to completing the loan deal of Andre Wisdom.

Irvine spoke about his relationship with the Reds boss, saying: “I’ve spoken to Brendan, who I’ve known for a very long time and who I trust implicitly,”

Meanwhile Toure will hope to find a new club as Dejan Lovren is set to join the Merseyside club, making competition for a starting place much more difficult.
