Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic has dealt Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool a massive blow as he has revealed that he intends to stay in Spain.
The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a move to England and in particular to the two giants of English football, but after taking time on the decision, it appears that the 25-year-old wants to remain in Spain with Sevilla.
Statistics-wise, Rakitic is the third-best player in La Liga as he has grabbed eight goals and also given six assists in just 16 appearances.
When asked about his future in an interview, Rakitic was adamant that he is happy to remain in Spain.
He said: “For the time being, I only think about Sevilla.
“I have important matches ahead of me and additional responsibilities as captain of the team, so leaving is not something I’m considering now.”
