Winger’s Dad has confirmed deal is close

Erik Lamela is all set to complete a season long loan move to Inter Milan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Lamela, 23 is set to leave Tottenham after failing to convince manager Mauricio Pochettino that he is worthy of a place in the team, with his father saying that “It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics”.

Inter Milan will have a mandatory option to buy Lamela when the season is over, with a ÂŁ10.3m fee already agreed.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lamela’s Dad said: “I can confirm the rumours are true and the interest for Erik is real.

“We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.

“We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations.

“It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics.

“Erik was very happy in Serie A and had two great years with Roma. We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter option.”

Premier League Flop

The Tottenham winger has failed to live up to expectations since signing for ÂŁ30m from Roma in 2013. He has scored just 6 goals in 59 games for the North London outfit despite netting 15 goals for Roma during the 2012-13 season, the season that earned him his big money move.

One stand out moment from his time in England was scoring a superb Rabona-style strike from outside the area in a 5-1 win over Asteras Tripoli but unfortunately he failed to build on that during the rest of the 2o14-15 season.
