Frank Lampard has accepted that Chelsea are underdogs for tonight’s clash in UCL versus Bayern Munich.
However, if anybody knows anything about beating Bayern Munich on the big stage, it is Frank Lampard. Back in 2012, when Chelsea reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, they were up against a daunting Bayern Munich side with players like Robben and Ribery in their prime.
Chelsea had barely managed to scrape their way through to the final and were on the verge of getting knocked out too many times. Bayern on the other hand were one of the tournament favorites and reached the final after beating the mighty Real Madrid.
Chelsea entered the final with more than 3 first team players missing including captain John Terry.
With the final at their home stadium in the Allianz Arena, it was Chelsea against all odds. Lampard was then the man with the captain’s armband as he led out a depleted Chelsea side and struck in a world-class penalty in the shoot out to help Chelsea overcome the highest odds and beat Munich.
So when Frank has said this time again he knows, we can trust him that he is aware of what he is talking about. However, whether he can make his young team do the same thing like he did remains to be seen!
