Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has played down reports suggesting that striker Edinson Cavani is unhappy at the club.

The Uruguayan striker is believed to be annoyed and frustrated at the system that Blanc plays, which sees the natural-striker play out on the wing in order to allow Zlatan Ibrahimovic play up-front as the lone striker.

These reports were then followed up by suggestions that Manchester United were preparing a sensational bid for the 26-year-old, however, Blanc has played down the transfer talks and revealed that top-players will always attract interest.

“You cannot prevent that some club is interested in PSG players, as we are interested in many players.

“But today, it is almost impossible to take a major PSG player during the winter market.”

Blanc has also been speaking about Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, and he has admitted that he is highly interested in the Frenchman.

“Cabaye and Pjanic are actually two of our targets, they are two players we want.

“They are similar, they have the same profile of a very technical midfielder. There are two alternatives, there is no choice of number one or number two.

“There are negotiations ongoing, but it’s hard to complete them in January. I would be very happy to have a midfielder.”
