Arsenal foward Lukas Podolski believes he is nearly back to full-fitness and is ready to help guide the club to silverware this season.

The German international was used on the left-hand side in last night’s FA Cup clash with League One Coventry City, but he still managed to score twice during the 4-0 victory before being replaced late in the second-half.

Podolski was sidelined for four months with a hamstring injury, but since his return he has scored on four occasions, and he has admitted that he is ready to help from now until May.

“It was a long time for me because I never had a long injury before,” he told Arsenal Player.

“It was not easy, you work hard, you train hard and finally you’re back. I don’t know if I’m 100 per cent but I think I played very good today and we’ll see in the next week.

“You are always happy when you play and score goals for the team so it was good for me, good for the team and important in the end to be in the next round.

“In the second half they [Coventry] had fight and they had chances so it’s not easy against lower league teams.

“It was important we did the job, we are in the next round now and I on Sunday is the next draw so we will wait for the next game in the FA Cup.”
