Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has refused to speak out on his plans regarding the potential transfers of Jermain Defoe and Mark Schwarzer during the January transfer window after being questioned in his post-match inerview following his side’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle in the F.A. Cup yesterday.

Toronto striker Jermain Defoe is believed to be keen on a move away from the MLS, with Premier League outfits Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool joining alongside Leicester City as reportedly interested.

Chelsea goal-keeper Mark Schwarzer is also known to be wanted by Nigel Pearson, though the 51-year-old manager declined to comment on that possiblity of sigining the veteran shot-stopper as well.

Pearson told Matchday Live: “Sorry to disappoint you but Mr Straight Bat here is going to tell you that when there is something to tell you we will release it.

“Until deals are actually effectively done it’s always dangerous to speak too publicly about them. I’m not trying to be difficult. I just think you have to consider a lot of things in any transfer window. The most important thing is the wellbeing of the player and the two clubs.

“Deals can fall through very late in the day and it’s always important to protect everybody’s interest.

“We’re trying to be as active as we can and when we do deals we will announce it but I don’t like getting involved and disrupting other people’s squads when deals aren’t done.”
