Striker turned down Blues to experience ‘real’ football

January signing Andrej Kramaric admitted he turned down the opportunity to sign for Premier League leaders Chelsea, for relegation-threatened Leicester City instead.

The 23-year-old striker joined the Foxes for £9 milllion at the start of the year, having netted 28 times for previous club HNK Rijeka in just the first half of the campaign.

“I never had a chance to meet Jose Mourinho, it is true there was an option for me to join Chelsea.” Kramaric admitted.

“I’ve played against Man United, Man City and Arsenal, and I am not impressed at all by their strength. Chelsea is one step ahead of all the others.”

The Croatia international has scored twice for Leicester, as their recent form has put them in contention of retaining the top-flight status for another season.

Loaned out

“It wasn’t an easy decision for me, but after I heard I was supposed to go on loan somewhere outside England, I rejected Chelsea and chose Leicester because I wanted to feel real football, I wanted to play in Premier League.” Kramaric added.

He will face Chelsea tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at home, and a victory for the visitors could all but seal the 2014/15 title for Mourinho’s men.
