FC Barcelona star comments on his teammate’s future
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi admits he is unsure whether or not his teammate Pedro will leave the Camp Nou this summer.
The Spanish international has been strongly linked with a £22 million move to Premier League giants Manchester United, due to the winger’s concern about his lack of first team football in La Liga.
However, Pedro recently came off the bench to score the winner for Barca in their 5-4 extra time victory over Sevilla in European Super Cup.
Argentina superstar Messi admitted he was delighted for his long-time friend and successful teammate when he scored the winner, following the recent speculation about the forward’s future.
‘we’re all with him and we’ll back him’
“I’m thrilled that Pedro was the one to get the winning goal,” expressed Messi.
He also added: “Personally I don’t know what his decision will be but we’re all with him and we’ll back him.”
“We want the best for him given what he’s given the club; he deserves the best. I don’t know what he’ll decide but whatever he’ll have our support,” stated the four time Ballon d’Or winner.
It remains to be seen whether or not United will meet Pedro’s release clause in his current Barcelona contract.
