Barcelona star Lionel Messi has revealed Premier League leaders Manchester City are one of the two “strongest teams” in the Champions League.
This year’s Champions League competition is coming close to the end of the group stage, with only one round remaining.
Barcelona have already booked their place in the draw for the last-16 which will commence on December 11 and the Argentine superstar has been keeping an eye on the biggest threats to Barca’s hopes of landing a sixth European title.
“City are one of the strongest teams at the moment, along with PSG,” he said in an interview with Spanish outlet Marca .
“They’ve been the two strongest teams up to this point, but it’s a very long season.
Barca’s domestic rivals Real Madrid will qualify out of Group H in second place after being pipped to top spot by Tottenham, but Messi is well aware of the threat that Zinedine Zidane’s men pose, as they go hunting for a third European Cup in a row.
“I never dismiss Real Madrid for what they have and their experience, even though now they aren’t getting the results people expect. Bayern Munich, too. They’re another big team that will be there at the end of the season, but it’s true that, today, City and PSG are the best.”
