Cologne and Germany left-back could be headed to Anfield
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £12million fee for left-back Jonas Hector.
Jurgen Klopp has identified the left side of his defence as an area that needs strengthening this summer with doubts hanging over current first-choice Alberto Moreno.
The 26-year-old has put in a number of impressive performances in the Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons and has established himself as Germany’s first-choice left-back.
This season he made 32 appearances in the league for Cologne, providing four assists.
In March, Hector admitted that while he was content at Cologne, a call from Klopp could persuade him to move to Anfield.
“You always have to consider whether you are ready to take the next step. But at the moment I am not thinking about it,” he told Eurosport.
“I think what we have to do at FC Koln is enough. I also have with the national team a big tournament ahead of us.
“[If Klopp called] then I would start to think about it.”
