Iturbe, who is currently on loan to Italian side Hellas Verona, has adapted well to the Serie A scene, scoring 5 goals in 22 matches and providing a handful of assists.

Hellas are keen to keep the highly rated winger on a permanent move but Liverpool are hoping to snatch him from the Italian side’s clutches by beginning talks with Porto.

It’s reported that Reds manager Brenden Rodgers has been hugely impressed by the performances of the 20 year old and after hearing about Hellas’ plans, Rodgers has decided to make a move.

Liverpool made contact with the Portuguese giants on Tuesday reportedly, and Rodgers has been kept updated on the negotiations. Iturbe is valued around ÂŁ15m which Liverpool would be happy to pay as they’ve missed out on key wingers recently such as Willian, Mohamed Salah, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Yevhen Konoplyanka.

There is high hope that the Argentine winger, who was linked with Real Madrid early in hi8s career, will transfer to Anfield as he is a pacey, agile player who has had his playing style and physique compared to Lionel Messi.
