Liverpool leading the race for Newcastle star
Liverpool are ready to launch a £20million bid for Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum.
The midfielder has interested several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, and Liverpool’s city-rivals, Everton.
The Holland international scored 11 league goals last season after arriving at Newcastle in a £14.5m deal from PSV Eindhoven. All of them came at St James’ Park – with four coming in one game against Norwich.
He is not the sort of controlling midfielder Liverpool manager Klopp had initially wanted, but deals for Piotr Zielinski and Mahmoud Dahoud have proved complicated and both remained out of reach.
Wijnaldum would provide energy and add to the competition for places at Anfield.
