Liverpool eye cheap deal for Manchester City outcast

Liverpool are still interested in signing Manchester City outcast Micah Richards, as Brendan Rodgers’ quest for a right-back continues.

The Englishman has falled way down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium due to Pablo Zabaleta’s consistent performances, and now that Manuel Pellegrini has added Bacary Sagna to his squad from Arsenal, Richards is looking at very limited game-time if he remains a City player.

The 26-year-old, who has suffered from injuries in the past few seasons, is also wanted by Newcastle United, but with then signing Daryl Janmaat, it appears that Liverpool will be the only club interested in signing Richards.

Arsenal were also once linked with making a move for the right-back, but they are set to announce a deal for Newcastle man Matheiu Debuchy.

Rodgers is a big fan of Richards being versatile and being able to play at centre-back as well as right-back, and he feels that he could get him on the cheap as Pellegrini looks desperate to sell him on this Summer.
