Diogo Jota’s injury deals a blow to Liverpool’s title chance

Liverpool’s title hopes have taken a serious hit after Diogo Jota left Saturday’s game against Manchester City with a persistent muscle issue.

Jurgen Klopp, who already has a busy schedule, now has to deal with an important stretch without one of his most effective forwards.

Jota, an important factor in Liverpool’s attacking brilliance this season, with four Premier League goals, one Carabao Cup goal, and three exceptional Europa League goals.

The 26-year-old’s unexpected injury, described by Klopp as a muscle issue might keep him out for a long amount of time, leaving Klopp with little options during an important stretch of the season.

Klopp stated his uncertainty over the setback, saying,

“Unfortunately, we’ve lost Diogo with a muscle issue, I don’t know exactly.”

The absence of the Portuguese forward adds to Klopp’s selection problems as a number of difficult matchups, including clashes with LASK, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle, lurks big on the upcoming schedule.

Jota’s previous hamstring and calf problems, which kept him out for five months last season, add to the fear surrounding his current injury.

As Liverpool prepares for a hard 10-game stretch over the following six weeks, Klopp’s ability to effectively lead the squad and navigate through this difficult period will be critical in keeping the team competitive on numerous fronts.
