Liverpool 5-2 Roma: Mo Salah and Firmino score twice in Champions League semi-final first leg.

Mo Salah struck twice against his former club but Liverpool conceded late away goals in a 5-2 Champions League semi-final first-leg win over Roma on another entertaining European night at Anfield.

The PFA’s Player of the Year scored a stylish first-half double – taking his goal tally in a stunning season to 43 – before Sadio Mane scored in 56th minute and then Roberto Firmin struck in the 61st and 69th minute to put a first Champions League final since 2007 firmly in sight.

Edin Dzeko pounced when Liverpool’s back line were switched off by scoring in the 81st minute and Diego Perotti converted an 85th-minute penalty to shift the mood and give Roma unlikely hope.

Liverpool have one foot in the final, but have to face Roma at their home for bug 90 minutes.
