Liverpool need a goal scorer, of that there is no doubt. Balotelli hasn’t stepped up to the mark (so far), and Sturridge remains doubtful on a weekly basis. The Anfield club need someone….and fast.
So is Jackson Martinez the answer?
The Colombian international, currently plying his trade with Porto, appears to be just the ticket. 72 goals in 106 appearances for the Portuguese club, could have the Anfield faithful hopeful of a new Kop favourite.
The 28-year-old is looking for a new challenge, with Valencia and AC Milan watching progress, but it’s understood Martinez would prefer a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal are reportedly interested, but Liverpool appear favourites, with a £30million bid imminent.
He’s a proven scorer in Portugal. Could he emulate the same prowess in the toughest league in the world?
