Liverpool are eyeing a move for Napoli star Piotr Zielinski dubbed “better than Kevin De Bruyne” according to reports.

The Reds missed out on signing Zielinski two years ago after he moved to Napoli for £13million instead. But Liverpool will move for him again as the Polish international has helped Napoli to top of the Serie A table with his fine performances.

It’s now been revealed that Napoli have a £60million release clause in his contract in order to deter teams from pursuing him. But Liverpool would be prepared to meet that price according to reports in Italy.

Zielinski has scored seven goals this season and has been an important midfielder for the attacking and entertaining Napoli side.

And his fine performances have drawn praise from the head of the Polish FA Zbigniew Boniek, who believes he is better than Manchester City maestro De Bruyne, reports The Mirror.

“He will be the next De Bruyne? I think Zielinski already has more quality than De Bruyne”, Boniek said.

“They are different kind of players, of course, but they have the same ability to leave their mark on the team. I think that he will become a top player.

“He was 16, I went to see a Poland youth international match and thought: ‘This is an extraordinary player’.”

While Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri echoed Boniek on his thoughts on the Polish midfielder.

Sarri said: “He is an absolute talent, he also has great physical skills and if he grows in the level of personality, he can play in any area of the court, the new De Bruyne.”
