Jurgen Klopp feels James Milner can fill in at that position this season

Liverpool are not actively on the lookout for a new left-back, according to reports.

The Liverpool Echo have claimed that boss Jurgen Klopp feels James Milner can do a good job in that position and therefore plans to play him in that area against Burnley in their game against the side this weekend.

Alberto Moreno has been the Reds’ first choice left-back for a while now but after a series of bad performances for the club, the fans are desperate to see the club bring in a new defender to replace him.

They will get their wish in the respect that Moreno is unlikely to feature for Liverpool again this weekend after having a torrid time against Arsenal last week but it will be Milner who plays as a LB instead, rather than Klopp bringing in a new left-back.

Milner trusted at LB

Klopp has so much faith in Milner that, at this moment in time, the Reds aren’t actually looking to sign a new left-back before the window closes, instead choosing to just drop Moreno and play Milner in that role.

The 30-year old has done a pretty solid job for Liverpool in midfield since making the move to Anfield and has even filled in as captain when needs be. However, with Moreno turning in some bad performances, it looks like a position change might be on the cards for the time being.

Moreno could also end up back in the role and given a chance to redeem himself by Klopp but for the time being, he should be out of the squad for the time being.

The Reds have been linked with several left-backs like Fabio Coentrao, Jonas Hector and Ben Chilwell over the last few weeks but it now appears that no move for any of them will be materialising.
