Liverpool look ready to splash the cash in a bid to find a replacement for skipper Steven Gerrard. Steven Gerrard has announced he will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season to join LA Galaxy and now Brendan Rodgers is looking for a player to fill the void that will be left by him.

Gerrard spoke about his move to America;

“I still feel like a player and know I can perform well for the next couple of years,”

“So I want to go into a set-up with a winning mentality, to a team that is used to winning and also a team that has got people within there that want to win in the future.

“I know the players have got a winning mentality because they have proved it over the years, but having spoken to the manager Bruce Arena, and the people above him, they are very aggressive and they want success.

“That is what I want and that is how I want to finish my career. Those are the reasons why I chose LA Galaxy.

Rumours circulating this morning are that the Reds are willing to spend up to ÂŁ60million to bring Ross Barkley to Anfield despite the Merseyside rivalry.

Barkley, 21 is seen as a natural replacement for Gerrard and has been linked with a move away from Everton since summer, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all potential clubs for him.

Liverpool are also looking into the availability of Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanic who currently plays in Italy for Roma, but this is reported to be more of a plan B if the move for Barkley falls through.

Roma are said to want to keep their man, especially is team-mate Kevin Strootman leaves for Manchester United in summer. According to rumours in Serie A, Roma have put a ÂŁ23.5million price tag on the 24 year old.
