Liverpool Target PSG Defender

Liverpool are intensifying their efforts to sign Paris St-Germain central defender Mamadou Sakho and are ready to make a bid of £11 million.

Brendon Rodgers is looking to sign a new central defender after new signing Kolo Toure picked up a groin injury in their 4-2 win against Notts County in midweek and Sakho appears to be his number one target.

Liverpool have made several bids for he defender which have all been rebuffed by PSG as they believe Sakho is a symbol for the club and a key homegrown player. Sakho has struggled with first team football with the arrival of Thiago Silva and Marquinhos both gaining starting places over the French player. With the World Cup approaching Sakho is keen to gain first team football even if that is away from his current club.

Sakho is in his final year of his contract but it will still cost Liverpool a large fee to sign him before the window ends, Roma have made a £4.2 million and are unwilling to go any higher and AC Milan are only seeking a loan deal.

Sakho has made 151 appearances for PSG scoring 7 goals.
