Reds announced the arrival of Joel Matip yesterday

Liverpool will let Kolo Toure leave the club at the end of the season after announcing the deal to sign Joel Matip from Schalke.

The Cameroonian centre-back will join Jurgen Klopp‘s side on a free transfer at the end of the season after agreeing a contract in principle with the Premier League outfit.

However, with Matip arriving, it means a current centre-back may make way, and it’s believed Toure is the one set for the chop.

The Ivorian’s contract expires at the end of the season and Liverpool officials are now willing to release him after signing Matip.

Toure has made 15 appearances so far for Liverpool this season, with injuries at the back a real problem for Klopp, but with the 24-year-old arriving from the Bundesliga, Toure is expected to depart.

Speaking about his future, the 34-year-old admitted he doesn’t know what’s next for him.

Toure Unsure

He said: “I don’t know what I’ll do at the end of this season, but I’d like to stay in the Premier League.

“My kids are here and it is difficult to move. I am loving every day but God knows where I will be in a year’s time.

“But I hope it’s playing football because I love it.”
