Liverpool are set to make a £40million bid for Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, according to reports.
The Reds are in desperate need for a striker after losing Luis Suarez in the Summer and failing to replace him appropriately.
Brendan Rodgers chose to sign Ricke Lambert from Southampton and Mario Balotelli from AC Milan in order to replace the Uruguayan, and both have struggled for goals this season, leaving Liverpool way off the title pace.
However, with the Winter window open, it’s expected that Rodgers will try and sign a new hitman, and it looks like Benzema is his main target.
According to reports, Liverpool will offer Real Madrid £40m for the Frenchman in the hope that it’s enough to seal the deal.
It’s believe Benzema is frustrated with life in Spain and with Real boss, Carlo Ancelotti, and a move away could happen, but it’s likely that it will have to wait until the Summer.
